The Oxford Libraries

Part of the divinity hall were parliament has sat when it needed to meet somewhere other than London.  There is no provision for electricity or modern conveniences of any kind so the hall is often used as a filming location for period dramas.
All these buildings were part of a tour of the Bodleian library buildings that Seth and I went on.

These two photos show details of centuries old stonework in the divinity hall which is one of the oldest buildings in Oxford dating back to the 1400s.  Every junction of the ceiling stonework has a detailed carving that features the initials of important people, images of animals and flowers, just stunning.
This is the Bodleian library, as it is a working library you are not allowed inside but can only look in at the windows.  Seth and Jenny went on a tour that took us into a library full of books from 1400's to the 1600s that were originally chained into the library so they couldn't be removed.
